There are a lot of what I'd call secondary, or B-list, comic heroes that
could be adapted or need some retooling in order to make great films. I
thought The Shadow was a decent flick (much better than The Phantom). Dick
Tracy was an okay film; looked much better than it actually was. I think The
Shadow was the best of the three, and wasn't hampered by the ham-fisted
acting of Treat Williams or Al Pacino.
There was some talk of remaking The Phantom within the past year or two, but
I don't know what happened to the project (that's a film project that I
think would be hard to adapt; a hero in a purple suit....in a jungle???).
I'd like to see a Captain America or a Green Lantern film, I suppose. Maybe
even an Aquaman or a Wonder Woman. I think Flash Gordon should be given
another shot, though I have to admit the 1980 version is still a guilty
pleasure.

Wow, you're really into Gwen, aren'tcha?
I just thought they were cute Japanese girls.
Many girls like fashion. The song on SNL was, furthermore, funny. I
don't think the yodelling goatherd song is hip-hop, mod or rock-rap.
It was just fun and funny.

You're right. Didn't Princess Diana settle for a paltry 25 million?
Actually, the figure of 17mil sets in my head - but I'm too lazy to look it

No, but the weight-gain is clearly visible in his face.
Let's not forget, even though he's marrying a young woman, Ooze is a

L.A. judge sides with "Borat" against frat boys
Mon Dec 11, 2006 5:22 PM ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - As the esteemed Kazakh television journalist
Borat Sagdiyev might say: "High Five. Sexy Time. You Lose."
Two college fraternity buddies shown guzzling alcohol and making
racist remarks in the "Borat" movie have lost their bid for a court
order to cut the scene they claim has tarnished their reputations,
court papers revealed on Monday.
The students sued the movie's distributor and producers last month,
saying filmmakers had duped them into appearing in "Borat" by getting
them drunk and falsely promising the film would never be shown in the
United States.
At the time the suit was filed, a judge denied the pair's request for
a temporary restraining order that would remove footage of them from
the film, but the plaintiffs were given a another chance to seek an
injunction at a hearing last week.
The South Carolina college students lost again when Los Angeles
Superior Court Judge Joseph Biderman ruled they had failed to show a
reasonable probability of success on the merits of their case or that
money damages alone would be insufficient to resolve their claims.
Arguments on the latest motion focused mainly on the future DVD
release of the hit movie, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for
Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan."
The faux documentary, distributed by 20th Century Fox, has already
grossed more than $120 million at the North American box office after
six weeks in theaters.
The lawyer for the students, Olivier Taillieu, said last week that
while the film's theatrical run is coming to a close, the perpetuity
of the film on DVD posed ongoing problems for his clients, including
harm to their ability to seek work.
Last month, Taillieu said the movie had cost one of the students a job
at a major corporation and another a prestigious internship. The
students were identified in court papers only as John Doe 1 and John
Doe 2. A third student involved in the scene did not take part in the
suit.
The film stars British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen as a fictional
Kazakh TV journalist whose boorish sensibilities clash with ordinary
Americans. The story line is driven by a series of improvised
encounters with people who become Baron Cohen's unsuspecting foils.
The scene at issue in the lawsuit depicts Borat getting drunk with
three frat boys in a motor home while they watch a sex tape and make
racist remarks about slavery and minorities in the United States.
20th Century Fox is a unit of News Corp.

Speaking of Oprah, someday her couch is going to be worth a lot of
money at auction.
"This is the dress that Catherine Hepburn wore....this is the couch
that Tom Cruise jumped on"
Anyways getting back to reality as it were...and this Internet network
business,
I thougt for some strange reason, that I would try, connecting my
Internet cable
directly to my computer and bypass my router firewall, to see if that
made it go faster.
I had the Sygate firewall up and running and I figured it should be
safe enough.
My computer lasted 15 seconds, before the onslaught of hackers
destroyed the operating system, and a Windows Messaging popup from some
company, said Houston, you have a problem, and must come to our website
to get it fixed. Well that sounded like graft to me, you know do
something to their computer, make em come to your website to get the
fix.
So I turned the computer off, wouldn't re-start. Operating system
toasted completely.
So I spent all last night re-installing the operating system, and thats
why I didn't go to work today. And why we didn't have a party last
night.
Those scientists.
So anyways this time, I have a new solution to the problem, and we
will see how that works.
Its not a viable solution for the average user because it is too high
tech.
But in theory it should protect everything.
And maybe that is the solution for business.
VMWARE.
You create a virtual machine, within your system, load an operating
system on it, and it is like a machine within your machine, and nothing
can get in to it, and nothing can get out of it, and you access the
Internet from within it.
There you have it folks. You put a box, around a machine, within a
machine.

Foxy Brown rapped over probation terms
By SAMUEL MAULL, Associated Press Writer
Rapper Foxy Brown was summoned to court unexpectedly Monday after
being accused of violating probation stemming from a fight in a nail
salon more than two years ago.
Brown, appearing in Manhattan Criminal Court, where she was sentenced
in October to three years probation, was accused of failing to keep
appointments with probation officers, appear for anger management
classes and submit to drug tests.
Brown "is flouting the court-ordered conditions of her probation,"
said Shawnda Weinberg, a lawyer for the city Department of Probation.
"She's asked for special treatment. She's told us, `I'm not like them
(others on probation).'"
Brown, 26, was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to
misdemeanor assault charges in August for kicking one employee and
smacking a second in the face on Aug. 29, 2004, in an argument over
payment for a manicure at Bloomie Nails.
Weinberg suggested to Judge Melissa C. Jackson that Brown, whose real
name is Inga Marchand, should spend some time in jail.
The judge, who sentenced Brown in October, warned her to comply with
the terms of her sentence or face going to jail. The judge would not
let Brown speak, telling her to wait until her next court appearance
when her lawyer is present.
Outside court, Brown said, "I have never violated probation. This is
happening to me because I'm Foxy Brown."
The rapper said she had submitted to drug tests "and they came back
clean, negative, perfect."
Brown said the accusation about her wanting to be treated specially
resulted from her reluctance to sit in a downtown Brooklyn probation
office during the late evening for three hours "with all kind of
criminals" without any security.
"My safety was in jeopardy," Brown said. ... "I didn't think they were
going to throw me in with the wolves."
Brown, whose albums include "Ill Na Na" and "Chyna Doll," is known for
her sexy outfits and racy lyrics.

AND natural trans fats. Natural trans fats are found in ruminant
animals (cows, goats, sheep). Though as Doomella said, the amounts
are very small. Interestingly (at least to me), meat and dairy from
grain-fed animals contain much less trans fats than those from
grass-fed. So while we've been pumping up all kinds of processed
foods with the man-made trans fats that are causing such a stir, we've
decreased the naturally occurring trans fats we consume. Not that it
evens out, but some think the natural trans fats might actually be
good for us.
Anyway, I have mixed feelings about the ban. I think people should
have the choice to eat junk if they want to, but I must admit it would
be nice if things like hydrogenated vegetable oils and high fructose
corn syrup were easier to avoid when eating out.
